The African Football Confederation (CAF) has notified Egypt’s Zamalek club today, Tuesday, of its decision to appoint an Algerian refereeing team for their match against fellow Egyptians Modern Future in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals, scheduled for April 7th.
The refereeing team will comprise Mustapha Ghorbal as the center referee, with Mekran Guerar and Abbas Akram Zerhouni as assistant referees, and Youssef Gamoh as the fourth official.
Algerian Lahlou Benbraham has been selected as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) referee, with assistance from Zambia’s Diana Chikotesha.
The match will be overseen by Libyan Jamal Salem as the general match observer, while Moroccan Mohamed Qazaz will monitor the referees.
It’s worth noting that Mustapha Ghorbal officiated the “Century Final” between Al Ahly and Zamalek in the 2020 CAF Champions League, a historic encounter that saw Al Ahly emerge victorious with a 2-1 win.
Currently, Zamalek is preparing to face Modern Future on March 31st in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals.
This match will be officiated by a Moroccan refereeing team led by referee Jalal Jed.
