Gabon’s preparations for their friendly match against Senegal have been marred by an incident involving midfielder Guelor Kanga, who stands accused of indiscipline during the team’s stay in Paris, France.
The Gabon Panthers, led by coach Thierry Mouyouma, are currently in Paris for their upcoming friendly encounter with Senegal.
However, tensions arose within the team’s camp when it was alleged that Guelor Kanga attempted to accommodate his brother and his wife in the same hotel where the national team was staying.
Coach Thierry Mouyouma swiftly intervened, asserting authority by refusing Kanga’s request. The incident prompted an emergency meeting, during which Kanga’s conduct was discussed at length.
Subsequently, it was decided that disciplinary action would be taken against the midfielder for his breach of team protocols.
Initially, Kanga received a formal admonition for his actions. However, as the gravity of the situation became apparent, a further decision was reached to sanction him more severely.
Consequently, Kanga has been excluded from the squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Senegal and Congo.
Coach Mouyouma expressed his disappointment with Kanga’s behavior, emphasizing the importance of adhering to team regulations and maintaining group harmony.
The decision to discipline Kanga was made to uphold team discipline and ensure that such incidents do not disrupt the squad’s focus and preparation for the upcoming matches.
While Kanga’s absence will undoubtedly be felt, the Gabonese team remains committed to their preparations for the friendly fixtures.
With the incident addressed internally, the focus now shifts to the forthcoming matches, where Gabon will aim to showcase their strength and unity on the field.
