In the 2012 Tour du Rwanda, the yellow jersey changed hands after the 5th stage, now worn by the Eritrean cyclist Kudus Merhawi. He secured the jersey by finishing second in the day’s stage. Merhawi is ahead of South Africans Darren Lill and Shaun Ward by 25 and 32 seconds, respectively. The stage was won by Eritrean cyclist Salomon Habte, marking the third stage victory for Eritrean riders in the tour. Rwandan cyclist Nicodem Habiyambere earned the most combative jersey, while Adrien Niyonshuti retained the title of the “best Rwandan” on the tour. Stage 6 is set to cover 60.5 kilometers from Musanze (Ruhengeri) to Rubavu (Gisenyi).
