The Jaraaf of Dakar faces a crucial challenge this Saturday in the return match of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup against the Ghanaian team Dwarfs. After losing 0-1 in the first leg against Dwarfs, the Jaraaf must now give their all at the Demba Diop stadium to overturn the deficit and secure a spot in the next round of the competition. Despite playing at home, coach Abdoulaye Sarr acknowledges that victory is not guaranteed and emphasizes the importance of learning from the mistakes of the first leg.
“We fell short in the first leg because we didn’t create many scoring opportunities. Therefore, our approach for the return match is clear: we must aim for victory by at least two goals to progress to the next round. I commend the fair play spirit of our opponents, which allowed us to start preparations for the return match immediately after the first leg in Ghana,” said Sarr in an interview on the CAF website.
“A football match consists of before, during, and after phases. We began our preparations as soon as the first match concluded. During training sessions on Thursday, we focused on improving our offensive capabilities, as it was identified as a weakness in the first leg. It’s simple: we need to be solid defensively and clinical in front of goal. The first leg showed us that victory is within our reach against a well-matched opponent,” Sarr added.
