The Olympic Club of Bamako and Al-Ahly of Tripoli face each other this Friday at the Modibo Keïta stadium for the return match of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup preliminaries. With a goalless draw being sufficient for the Olympians to secure their spot in the next round, they are cautiously optimistic.
“We had an exceptional first period, defending hard and disrupting their play. We were able to counterattack effectively and capitalize on our chances. While we are satisfied with our performance in the first leg, we recognize that there is room for improvement. Our defensive efforts were crucial, and when we are organized defensively and transition quickly to attack, we are a formidable opponent. We hope to build on our first-leg performance and deliver an even better performance on Friday,” stated COB midfielder Boubacar Diarra on the CAF website.
“It’s a favorable result for us, but we must remain focused and not underestimate our opponents. While we have the advantage of playing at home, we cannot afford to become complacent. We must maintain our concentration and approach the match with the same determination and intensity as the first leg,” added the Malian midfielder.
