Despite trailing 1-0 until the 91st minute, Lens staged a late comeback to equalize just before the final whistle and then clinch the win in overtime. In the next round, they will face Monaco at the Louis-II stadium on March 25 or 26.
Antoine Kombouaré, the coach of Lens, expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance in comments reported by RMC. “We played a great match,” stated the northern coach. “We knew we had to give 100% and hope that Lyon would falter slightly. That’s exactly what happened, even though we had a tough start. We had a strong second half and never stopped believing until the end. I’m delighted for the players; they did everything necessary to eliminate Lyon.”
