It would be a major surprise if Real Madrid didn’t make it to the final of the 2014 Spanish King’s Cup. Following their 3-0 victory in the first leg, the Merengues continued their dominance, leading Atletico Madrid 2-0 at halftime. Both goals came from one man – Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite being suspended in La Liga for three matches, Ronaldo made a triumphant return to the pitch. He opened the scoring with a penalty in the 7th minute and doubled the lead in the 17th minute, once again converting from the spot after Gareth Bale was fouled.
At halftime, Real Madrid held a 2-0 lead in the match and a commanding 5-0 lead on aggregate. On Wednesday, FC Barcelona will take on Real Sociedad in the second semi-final. It seems inevitable that we’ll witness a Clasico showdown in the final of the competition.
