Willy Bernard, the former president of the Angevin club, is facing serious legal troubles as the Belgian public prosecutor has requested a two-year prison sentence and an arrest warrant against him for tax evasion between January 2009 and December 2010. Additionally, he has been ordered to pay 350,000 euros.
This is not the first time Bernard has faced legal issues. In 2012, he was placed in police custody along with his brother and the current manager of the club, Olivier Pickeu, for misuse of corporate property. At that time, Bernard was sentenced to a two-year suspended prison sentence, a fine of €200,000, and a five-year ban on managing a company.
Now, with the involvement of tax authorities demanding 350,000 euros from him, the situation has become even more complicated for Bernard. The Le Mans court is expected to deliver its verdict on March 7, adding further uncertainty to his legal predicament.
