“I am aware that I gave my all and successfully guided the team to the CAN, as well as the CHAN. We were even on the verge of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup. Unfortunately, we were eliminated by Nigeria, the African champions,” Bishaw expressed to supersport.com, reflecting on his tenure.
“All these achievements were the result of relentless effort from the technical staff and myself. However, it’s now in the past, and we must move forward in life. There’s a limit to everything, and I believe I gave my utmost effort. I thank the federation and wish all the players the best in their future endeavors,” Bishaw concluded.
During his tenure, Ethiopia clinched victory in the 2005 Challenge Cup (CECAFA Cup) in their debut appearance. Bishaw steered the Antelopes Walya to the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa and also to the CHAN 2014 tournament.
