According to reports from the Lebuteur website, the official announcement of Nabil Bentaleb’s decision to represent Algeria in international football is imminent.
Algerian Football Federation President, Mohamed Raouraoua, reportedly met with Bentaleb’s family on Wednesday. Following the meeting, it is suggested that Raouraoua successfully persuaded Bentaleb’s parents to support their son’s decision to play for the Algerian national team.
Sources close to the family indicate that the Tottenham midfielder has agreed to represent Algeria, his country of origin, at the upcoming World Cup.
France Football magazine speculates that Bentaleb, aged 19, will likely be included in the squad for the friendly match against Slovenia on March 5 in Blida.
Bentaleb, who has also been courted by the national teams of France and England, has featured in 7 matches for Tottenham Hotspur, starting in 4 of them, all under the management of Tim Sherwood following the departure of André Villas-Boas.
