SENEGAL: “THIS SEASON, OUR GOAL IS TO WIN THE CAF CUP”

In preparation for their upcoming match in the first leg of the Caf Cup against the Ghanaian club Dwarfs, officials from Jaraaf of Dakar expressed their ambitions during a press conference held in Dakar this Tuesday.

Jaraaf de Dakar, founded in 1969 and the most successful Senegalese club to date, is determined not to settle for anything less than success in the Caf Cup this season. Their leaders made it clear that they have their sights set on winning the continental trophy, a feat unprecedented for a Senegalese club in this competition.

To achieve this ambitious goal, Jaraaf must first navigate past the winner of the Ghana Cup last season, the Edwards Club. Despite acknowledging the technical skills of Ghanaian teams in Africa, Jaraaf remains confident, currently sitting second in the Senegalese championship with an impressive record of three wins and four draws in seven matches.

Under the leadership of former Senegal Lions coach Abdoulaye Sarr, Jaraaf exudes confidence heading into the match against Dwarfs, especially considering their opponent’s current position in the Ghanaian league standings.

To support their aspirations, Jaraaf has allocated a budget of 20 million FCFA per round of the competition, with an overall budget of 150 million FCFA for the entire season, covering player salaries, bonuses, and other expenses.

The team is scheduled to depart from Dakar on Friday, February 7, 2014, and will arrive in Accra before traveling by bus to Cape Coast, where the match will take place.
