André Ayew is poised to make his long-awaited return to action this Saturday in Ligue 1. After a three-month absence due to injury, the Marseille midfielder has completed his recovery and will be available for OM’s away match against Bastia. Although fully recovered from his left knee injury, Ayew may not start the match but could feature on the match sheet.
Given his prolonged absence, the Marseille coaching staff will likely ease Ayew back into action gradually, using him sparingly initially. If he is called upon, Ayew is expected to play only a few minutes against Bastia, with manager José Anigo viewing him as a valuable “joker” off the bench.
Ayew sustained his injury following the second leg of the World Cup play-off against Egypt. Reports in early January suggested he was nearing full fitness, signaling his imminent return to competitive action for Marseille.
