The Great Ethiopian Run is an annual 10 km race held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Scheduled for November 25, the organizers are hoping for more than 30,000 male and female runners to participate. The event typically attracts top athletes from Ethiopia and Kenya to compete in the elite events.
In the 2011 edition, the men’s race saw Ethiopian Musnet Geremew securing victory in 28’37”, followed by his compatriot Yigrem Demelash (28’44”) and Kenyan Nicholas Kipkemboi (28’47”). In the women’s category, Ethiopians dominated the podium, with Abebech Afework winning in 32’59”, followed by future Olympic marathon champion Tiki Gelana (33’06”) and Atsede Habtamu (33’12”).
