The expulsion of Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti during Sunday’s match against Rennes (0-2) did not sit well with him, leading to some post-match drama. Umtiti left his mark in the locker room, resulting in damage to two locker room doors and the Segway used by the Rennes club mascot.
According to reports from L’Equipe, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has requested Rennes to provide a bill for the damages. Meanwhile, Lyon’s coach, Rémi Garde, believes that the red card shown to his player was unwarranted. “It was a spectacular incident, and I don’t believe there was any intention to harm Alessandrini,” Garde stated. “Even if there was a serious injury, the player could have been sent off, but the decision was made hastily, and Rennes orchestrated the situation by surrounding the referee,” he added.
