The highly anticipated derby of the 7th day of the Ligue 1 Pro in Senegal between Jaraaf of Dakar and Casa Sport of Ziguinchor ended in controversy this Saturday afternoon at the Demba Diop stadium in Dakar.
It all began with Jaraaf taking the lead in the 6th minute with a goal from Idrissa Niang, followed by another goal from their seasoned attacker Pape Ciré Dia in the 68th minute. This second goal seemed to be the final blow for Casa Sport, who struggled throughout the match.
In response to their team’s performance, Casa Sport supporters, known as “Allez Casa,” began throwing projectiles onto the field, including stones and bags of water, which disrupted the match and forced the referees to abandon the game under police protection.
Despite there being around twenty minutes remaining to play, Casa Sport was handed a defeat, and Jaraaf was awarded the three points.
This loss pushes Casa Sport, which has been a prominent team in the Senegalese championship for three seasons, into the relegation zone with only 5 points after 7 rounds of matches. With a depleted squad and a coach on shaky ground since the end of last season, Casa Sport’s situation is dire.
Meanwhile, Jaraaf leads the standings with 14 points. In other matches, Ace Pikine managed to secure a victory over Yeggo with a score of 1-0.
