Several new features will be introduced for the 2014 edition of this continental tournament. Increased participation is expected from countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. Mr. Bleu mentioned that between 8 and 12 teams could participate in 2014, with Senegal and Mali also expressing interest in joining. The size of each delegation will also be expanded, allowing up to 31 individuals per team, a significant increase from the previous limit of 20.
During the last Maracana CAN held in Benin, Togo (for veterans) and Ivory Coast (for seniors) emerged as champions in their respective categories.
Additionally, an ad hoc committee will be established to draft and validate the necessary regulations for the upcoming African Confederation of Maracana.
