During its Executive Committee meeting on January 24 in Cape Town, South Africa, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved the applications for hosting the CAN 2021. Algeria, Ivory Coast, and Guinea are the three countries vying to host the prestigious African football event.
CAF announced that a single commission, comprising experts, will be designated during the forthcoming Executive Committee meeting on February 21, 2014, in Cairo, Egypt. This commission will conduct inspection visits to the candidate countries.
The final decision on the host country for CAN 2021 will be deferred until September 2014, instead of May, to ensure that each candidate country has adequate time to undergo the CAF inspection process.
Furthermore, the six countries in contention to host the CAN 2019 have been identified as Cameroon, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia.
