Taye Taiwo showcased his preference for long-distance free kicks over penalty kicks during a recent match in the Turkish championship with his new club Bursaspor. In a game against Eskisehirspor, Taiwo had the chance to extend his team’s lead from the penalty spot but failed to convert.
With a penalty awarded to Bursaspor and Nigerian defender Taiwo stepping up to take it, the pressure was on. However, Taiwo’s effort was saved by Servet Cetin, a field player who had been called upon to deputize in goal after Bursaspor’s Belgian goalkeeper Ruud Boffin was sent off.
Despite Taiwo’s missed penalty, Bursaspor went on to secure a 3-1 victory, ensuring that the failed spot-kick did not have a significant impact on the final result.
