Just four days after their defeat in the Coupe de France against Montpellier (1-2) at the Parc des Princes, the Parisian club suffered another setback, this time against Guingamp (1-1). The equalizer came in the last minutes of the game.
Mustapha Yatabaré, a Malian player, opened the scoring for Guingamp in the 84th minute. PSG managed to secure the equalizer in the dying moments of the match. Goalkeeper Sirigu attributed the team’s poor performance to the pitch conditions, stating, “When we play on a pitch like that, we can’t even find the right cleats. With a lawn like that, there’s nothing we can do.”
PSG now risks seeing Monaco close the gap to just three points if the Monegasques win on Sunday evening against Marseille.
In his analysis of the match, PSG coach Laurent Blanc pointed out the deplorable state of the pitch, which affected the team’s style of play based on shifts rather than long passes. Despite the challenges, Blanc expressed satisfaction with the team’s resilience and the deserved point they earned in the match. He acknowledged that poor pitch conditions might not be a one-time occurrence, but he emphasized that PSG is not at an advantage in such situations.
