The Cameroonian Football Federation has taken action against 62 players from the Cameroonian league due to suspicions of age fabrication.
According to a report from French outlet “Foot Mercato,” the Cameroonian Football Federation made the decision to suspend these 62 players over allegations of age fabrication.
Among the most prominent names is Wilfried Nathan Douala, a player from Victoria United who was previously selected for the national team during the last African Cup of Nations.
The federation’s decision to suspend these players stems from concerns regarding dual identities, with suspicions raised that these players may have misrepresented their true ages.
Notably, the report indicates that only seven players from Victoria United are among those suspended, a revelation that has cast a shadow over the integrity of Cameroonian football under the leadership of President Samuel Eto’o, according to Cairo Al-Ikhbariya.
This move by the Cameroonian Football Federation comes at a time when the nation’s football community is still reeling from the disappointing exit of the Cameroonian national team from the recent Africa Cup of Nations tournament, where they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Nigeria.
