In the quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa 2014, Nigeria is set to face Morocco. The Nigerian team, led by coach Stephen Keshi, aims to achieve a rare CAN-CHAN double, having won the African Cup of Nations in 2013. In anticipation of the crucial match against Morocco, the National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced a special bonus of $100,000 for the Nigerian players if they manage to beat the Atlas Lions.
Sports Minister Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi clarified that this bonus is part of the players’ normal allowance and bonus, designed to motivate them to give their best on the field. The intention behind the bonus is to boost the morale of the Super Eagles and their coach, fostering a strong performance and a victory against Morocco. The sports boss expressed satisfaction with the team’s improving performance and expressed the hope of reaching the final in the tournament.
