On January 25, Nigeria and Morocco faced each other in the quarter-finals of CHAN 2014. Nigeria, having qualified as second in group A, faced Morocco after beating Mozambique and South Africa following an initial defeat against Mali. Stephen Keshi, the Nigerian coach, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s progress, emphasizing that they had only been together for four weeks. Despite the challenges, Keshi believed that the team was starting to understand the chosen game system. Nigeria, having won the African Cup of Nations in 2013, was considered one of the favorites to win CHAN 2014. Keshi acknowledged Morocco as a good team, recognizing their strengths in technical and tactical aspects. The match against Morocco was seen as a tough but winnable encounter.
