In their quest for a new striker to fill the void left by Robert Lewandowski’s departure, Borussia Dortmund has reportedly set their sights on Seydou Doumbia. The Ivorian international striker, currently with CSKA Moscow, has expressed his satisfaction with the interest from Borussia Dortmund and is eager for the transfer to be swiftly completed, according to his agent, Jean-Bernard Beytrison.
Beytrison stated, “Seydou has heard of this interest from Borussia Dortmund and is delighted. If he leaves CSKA Moscow, it will only be for a ‘Top club,’ and this is undeniably the case for BVB.” It’s worth noting that Doumbia is under contract with CSKA Moscow until June 2015.
The departure of the Polish striker prompted Dortmund to seek reinforcements during the transfer window. Although Lewandowski’s contract with Dortmund was set to expire in June, he took advantage of the transfer window to sign a five-year contract with Bayern Munich. As a result, he will continue playing with Dortmund until the end of the current season but will join Bayern Munich for the subsequent season.
