A report issued by the International Football Association, FIFA, has disclosed that the body responsible for combating doping within FIFA did not pursue any violations related to doping in the tournaments organized by the global football body in 2023.
The report, released last night, encompassed tournaments such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the FIFA U-20 World Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup, during which over 2600 samples were collected.
The report stated, “In 2023, the anti-doping program primarily focused on the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which saw an unprecedented increase in the number of tests conducted at the level of participating teams.
A total of 860 tests were conducted during and outside the competition.”
Furthermore, the report confirmed that one sample from the tournament held in Australia and New Zealand yielded a violation result, which was later justified through an official medical exemption.
Additionally, the report mentioned that a test result during the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina revealed levels of testosterone hormone violations.
However, subsequent investigations and tests did not confirm any violations.
