Yaya Touré, who has been playing for Manchester City since July 2010, was crowned the best African player of the year 2013 during the annual CAF (Confederation of African Football) gala. This marks his third win, having previously received the award in 2011 and 2012. At the CAF event in Lagos, Yaya Touré outperformed his opponents, securing 373 points compared to 265 for John Obi Mikel and 236 for Didier Drogba. Additionally, he was nominated for the Ballon d’Or, further recognizing his outstanding performance. The gala also saw Stephen Keshi named the best coach of 2013, Al-Ahly awarded the African club of the year, and the Super Eagles honored as the best African national team.
