The Cameroon Football Federation is anticipating significant financial gains following the qualification of the Indomitable Lions for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The standardization committee, led by Professor Joseph Owona, released a press statement outlining the expected income from FIFA, sponsors, and friendly matches in preparation for the tournament.
The anticipated amounts are as follows:
- USD 1,500,000 from FIFA: Allocated to each participating Member Association for World Cup preparation.
- EUR 500,000 from Puma: World Cup qualification bonus as per the contract with the equipment manufacturer.
- F CFA 20,000,000 from Brasseries du Cameroun: Bonus for qualifying for the World Cup following the sponsorship contract with this sponsor.
Additionally, friendly matches agreements have been secured against the Portuguese and German national teams:
- For the match against Portugal, the Federation will receive a fee of 130,000 euros.
- For the match against Germany, the Federation will receive a fee of 190,000 euros, along with broadcast rights on Cameroonian territory.
The draft budget for the preparation and participation in the World Cup will be published subsequently. Cameroon is placed in Group A alongside Brazil, Mexico, and Croatia.
