In their first-ever match in the final phase of the African Nations Championship (CHAN), Congo-Brazzaville suffered a 1-0 defeat against Ghana on January 13. This setback places the Congolese team in a challenging position in Group C. To salvage their first CHAN participation from turning into disappointment, the Red Devils must secure a victory against Ethiopia on Friday.
Captain Gildas Mouyabi expressed optimism, stating, “We found good conditions for the competition here in South Africa, even if the altitude does not allow us to give our best. Our goal coming here is to go to the second round, so we need to win our next match against Ethiopia to stay in the competition. We have a coherent and united group. There is a good state of mind, which should allow us to go further.” The Red Devils are determined to bounce back and continue their adventure in the competition.
