Joseph Sepp Blatter, the president of FIFA (International Federation of Association Football), has expressed uncertainty about his future in the organization. While he had previously stated that his current term would be his last, the Swiss leader now believes he still has the capability to lead world football for a few more years.
In an interview with Team 21, Blatter stated, “I repeat what I have already said: I am not yet tired enough to make the decision to withdraw. With that, everything is open. I will certainly declare myself before this year’s congress.”
Blatter, who has been at the helm of FIFA since June 8, 1998, hinted at a potential successor. He suggested that Michel Platini, the current president of UEFA, could be a logical choice. Blatter acknowledged Platini’s role in helping him become FIFA president and mentioned a specific event in Paris in 1998, stating, “It would be a logical continuation.”
