At 48 years old, Alaoui brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously been part of the technical staff for the Dijon team in France, working alongside Patrice Carteron. This marks his first venture into sub-Saharan Africa.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Alaoui shared, “I will get to know the city and its dream club, TPM, which has an image of a high-end club. Everything comes together to win with good framing and good conditions. From what I saw these two days in training, Mazembe has nothing to envy even of certain French L1 clubs,” as stated on the club’s website.
Hailing from Marrakech, Alaoui achieved notable success in his playing career, winning the Moroccan championship in 1992 with Kawkab de Marrakech, his hometown club. He was also the vice-champion of Morocco in 1987 and 1988, clinching the Coupe du Trône in 1987, 1991, and 1993, all while donning the Kawkab jersey.
In 1997, he crossed the Mediterranean to settle in France, where he played for Tours FC in National (1997-1998), followed by a stint at SO Châtellerault in CFA (1998-1999). Finally, he concluded his playing career at Paris FC in the National, retiring in 2000.
