Saudi Arabian football clubs are scrambling to secure deals with top female football players amidst the Kingdom’s keenness to attract renowned stars, in a bid to promote hosting the 2030 Women’s World Cup and the Asia Cup.
Leading Saudi clubs have placed Egyptian trio Sara Essam, Sarah Ismail, and Samia Adam at the top of their priority lists for potential signings in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Sara Essam, formerly of Stoke City and FC Barcelona, Sarah Ismail, who previously played for Barcelona and Rayo Vallecano, and Samia Adam, who had stints with Galatasaray and Napoli, are all sought after by the Saudi clubs.
The Saudi Women’s League currently boasts a significant number of Egyptian players, led by Sally Mansour, formerly of CFF Olimpia Cluj in Romania, and Menna Tarek, who played for Fatih Karagümrük in Turkey.
Others include Maha Eldemardash, who played for Trabzon in Turkey, along with numerous talented local players who form the backbone of the Egyptian national team, including Iman Hassan, Aminah Sameer, and Maya Ehab.
Additionally, three Egyptian coaching staff members are leading Saudi clubs: Fayza Haider at Abha Club, Abdel Fattah Abbas at Al-Ain, and Rana Adel El Laban at Riyadh Club.
