With this achievement, Uche equals the record for goals scored in a season by a Nigerian in the Spanish league, a record previously held by Georges Finidi with 11 goals in 1998-1999 for Real Betis. Uche’s impressive performance contributes to Villarreal’s success as they currently sit 5th in La Liga. As the 2014 World Cup approaches, Uche aims to secure a place in the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles. Georges Finidi, the former record-holder, is now a youth coach for the Mallorca team.
