Hassan Benabicha, the coach of the Atlas Lions of Morocco in the CHAN 2014 tournament, remains optimistic despite the team’s initial draw against Zimbabwe (0-0). The coach emphasized the positive aspects of the match, considering the limited preparation time of less than 10 days.
“Considering the conditions of our preparation, I am satisfied with the result. One point is better than nothing. We are satisfied with the result and hope to win the next match,” Benabicha stated in an interview with the Caf website.
Benabicha explained that the initial plan was to bring the under-20 selection to the tournament. However, due to Raja’s strong performance in the Club World Cup, players from Raja were included. The coach’s objective is to prepare players for the A team, especially since Morocco will host the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).
Despite the draw in the first match, Benabicha remains focused on the upcoming games. In the second match, Morocco will face Burkina Faso, who lost to Uganda in the same group. The match is anticipated to be highly competitive.
