It’s time for the first day of action in Group C at the 2014 African Nations Championship. Following the notable takeover of Uganda in Group B, Ghana is set to make its debut in the competition today. The Black Stars, finalists in the first edition, led by Maxwell Konadu, will face Congo, a team making its first appearance in the tournament.
Although the Red Devils are not considered favorites, they boast a strong lineup, primarily composed of players from the country’s top club, AC Léopards.
In the other match of the day, Ethiopia will go head-to-head against Libya. The Knights of the Mediterranean are eager to confirm their qualification for the 2014 World Cup. However, luck has not been on their side as this edition of CHAN was initially scheduled to take place in Libya. Ethiopia, therefore, enters the match as the predicted favorite, fielding a team that resembles an A-team, with most players having participated in the CAN last year.
Today’s Schedule:
- Ghana vs. Congo at 3 p.m.
- Libya vs. Ethiopia at 6 p.m.
