The upcoming squad for Morocco’s national football team, set to play friendly matches against Angola and Mauritania in the March camp, is expected to feature several astonishing surprises.
A source close to the affairs of the Atlas Lions confirmed to Koora today, Wednesday, that the roster for this month’s camp will be exceptional and unlike what head coach Walid Regragui has typically assembled.
“The Moroccan team’s failure in the previous Africa Cup of Nations against Ivory Coast, along with the decline in performance of several stars and the injuries of others from the core of the Qatar World Cup, such as Ziyech, Boufal, Zouhair Feddal, has compelled the coach to make changes to his upcoming squad,” the source explained.
Furthermore, the source added, “Regragui stated in his post-AFCON television appearance that he would rectify many issues in the future and will only give chances to those who deserve them.
Therefore, the upcoming roster will include the names of some players who were previously overlooked, especially Abderrazak Hamdallah and Sofiane Rahimi.”
“He will play in Agadir in front of the Moroccan audience and aims to reconcile with them by including Olympic elements who have not had their chance before,” the source continued.
Among the Olympians expected to be included in the squad are “Younes Delfi, a player for Bologna in Italy, Achraf Hakimi, a player for Villarreal in Spain, and Chadi Riad from Real Betis.”
In conclusion, the source emphasized, “The surprises in this squad will grab everyone’s attention, as it will include the names of some domestic league players.”
