Joseph Owona, the president of the Standardization Committee of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fécafoot), addressed various topics in a press conference, including the criticism faced by national coach Volker Finke. Owona dismissed negative reports about Finke, emphasizing his experience, proficiency in French, and understanding of African footballers.
Owona highlighted Finke’s coaching achievements, including his work with African players at the Friborg club, and urged Cameroonian athletes to support and trust the coach. He emphasized that Fécafoot does not interest him personally and denied any intention to stay at the head of the Normalization Committee.
The professor criticized journalists for spreading false information and indelicacies about him and other committee members, expressing dissatisfaction with the quality of some media coverage. Owona defended his communication strategy, stating that the committee has issued 12 communications, making information public when necessary.
