Nigerian striker Chidi Nwakali is reportedly close to joining Manchester City. The U17 world champion is expected to discuss a possible transfer with the club after arriving in Manchester on January 2. If negotiations are successful, Nwakali could earn €360,000 per year, including bonuses, starting from his 18th birthday. The young prospect, who primarily plays as a central midfielder but can also operate in central defense, currently plays at the Shuttle Sports Academy in Lagos. Nwakali gained recognition during the U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, where Nigeria emerged victorious.
