Djibril Cissé’s arrival at Sporting Club de Bastia was officially announced. The French striker, who terminated his contract with the Russian team Kuban Krasnodar, will join Bastia on an eighteen-month contract. Subject to the customary medical examination, scheduled for the next day, Cissé expressed his joy on Twitter, stating that he is “very happy to return to Ligue 1 with SC Bastia” and looking forward to a great year in 2014. Cissé aimed to return to France to boost his chances of securing a spot in the national team for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. This move marked his return to Ligue 1 after six years since leaving Olympique de Marseille.
