Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim Kahraba, the forward for Egypt’s Al Ahly football club, has taken swift legal action following his settlement of the financial penalty owed to Zamalek Sporting Club, thereby concluding a longstanding dispute dating back to the summer of 2019.

According to Ashraf Abdel Aziz, Kahraba’s lawyer, the player is set to file a legal complaint against Portugal’s C.D. Aves, the club he transferred to from Zamalek.

This move aims to pursue legal action to recover half of the fine imposed on him.

Abdel Aziz clarified that the fine imposed on Kahraba was a solidarity fine with C.D. Aves, giving the player grounds to file a case to claim 50% of the penalty, amounting to approximately $1.2 million.

This legal action is expected to be initiated in the coming days.

This urgent legal maneuver comes just 48 hours after Kahraba settled the fine imposed by Zamalek, signaling his determination to seek redress through FIFA against C.D. Aves, with Zamalek no longer directly involved in the proceedings.

Abdel Aziz emphasized that Al Ahly was never a party to Kahraba’s case, affirming the ruling of the sports court, which confirmed that the club had no involvement in the matter.

He expressed satisfaction with the closure of Kahraba’s case with Zamalek following the settlement of the financial penalty.
