The project, known for its comedic storyline unrelated to sports, originated in 2011. Arnaud Bettan, the president of the production house “One Million Dollar Film,” collaborated with director and screenwriter Luc Annest to develop a feature film. Despite positive responses from HBO in England and EuropaCorp, the film faced challenges in materializing. The decision to shoot in the USA led to the idea of a sports-related project to fund the film.
Bettan explains the concept of a collaborative production where multiple athletes of similar prominence promote the film through videos inspired by NOLA Circus. These videos, featuring interviews to explain the project, aim to highlight the comedic aspect. Additionally, 5% of the proceeds from the project are allocated to sponsoring charities. Bettan acknowledges the difficulty in reaching out to athletes and convincing them to participate, but the approach involves leveraging connections within the sports community to build support for the unique venture.
