Djibril Cissé is set to return to France, signing an eighteen-month contract with Sporting Club de Bastia. The 32-year-old striker, of Ivorian origin, is making a comeback to Ligue 1, five and a half years after leaving. His last club in France was Olympique de Marseille (OM), where he played from 2006 to 2009.
In an interview with Yahoo Sport, Cissé explained his decision to join Bastia and leave Kuban Krasnodar in Russia. He mentioned the appeal of Bastia’s creative and playing midfielders, expressing his belief that the team may benefit from a consistent goal-scorer. Cissé is motivated to return to France, aiming to reach 100 goals in Ligue 1 and eyeing a spot in the French national team for the 2014 World Cup.
Cissé is eager to contribute to Bastia’s success, saying, “I think there are great things to do there.”
