Waleed Sadi, the President of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), continues his endeavors to bolster the ranks of the national football team with fresh talent.
With the announcement of the new national coach imminent, set to be Swiss coach Vladimir Petkovic, Sadi recently engaged in discussions with Franco-Algerian player Rafik Guitane to gauge his interest in joining the Greens.
According to a report by “Al Arabi Al Jadid,” Sadi reached out to Guitane, who currently plays for Estoril in Portugal, regarding the prospect of representing the Algerian national team in upcoming fixtures.
The same source confirmed that, based on information from sources close to the FAF, both the federation and the player have begun the process of changing Guitane’s sporting nationality.
This involves FIFA procedures since he previously represented the French national team in youth categories.
If the process is completed soon, Guitane could participate in the training camp scheduled for March.
The campaign will commence with a friendly quadrangular tournament hosted by Algeria, featuring three other teams: South Africa, Bolivia, and Andorra.
In his recent media appearances, Rafik Guitane expressed his enthusiasm for donning the colors of the Algerian national team.
It is expected that the newest addition to the Greens will be announced soon, marking a significant step forward for Algerian football.
