The key contributors to this success were the two African recruits from the previous summer, who have consistently made crucial impacts throughout the season. Mehdi Benatia, the Moroccan defender acquired from Udinese, initiated the scoring in the 18th minute with a well-placed shot from a corner. Destro followed suit shortly after halftime, and Benatia secured his brace. To cap off the impressive performance, Ivorian player Gervinho added another goal.
