Henryk Kasperczak is poised to make a return to Africa in the coming days, as reported by RFI (Radio France Internationale). The Polish coach is expected to take on the role of head coach for the Eagles of Mali, a team currently without a coach following the abrupt departure of Patrice Carteron to TP Mazembe.
This move signals the end of Amadou Pathé Diallo’s interim tenure. At 67 years old, Kasperczak, who had previously coached Mali from 2001 to 2002, will now be tasked with guiding the team to qualify for the final phase of the CAN 2015 in Morocco. A former Polish international, Kasperczak boasts extensive coaching experience in France (Metz, Saint-Etienne, Strasbourg, Bastia, Lille, Montpellier, among others), Poland, Greece, China, and the United Arab Emirates. He is a well-versed connoisseur of the African continent.
Kasperczak has previously coached national teams such as Côte d’Ivoire (1993-94), Tunisia (1994-1998), Morocco (2000), and Senegal (2006-2008), from which he departed during the middle of the CAN 2008. It is anticipated that he will sign a contract with Mali, working alongside players like Seydou Keita.
