After scoring a goal against Nantes in the 18th round of Ligue 1 last weekend, Ivorian player Akpa Akpro is eyeing a spot in Sabri Lamouchi’s squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Despite being frequently sidelined due to injuries this season, the versatile full-back for the Elephants has successfully regained his form.
Although he has been regularly called up by Sabri Lamouchi, Akpa Akpro has yet to make an appearance in the matches. However, he remains confident and holds fond memories of the group qualification against Senegal in Casablanca.
“Even though I stayed on the bench, I will remember this moment all my life. Unforgettable,” recalls the Toulouse player.
Akpro is optimistic about playing in his first World Cup with the Ivorian national team. “Sabri is counting on me to have a good season with Toulouse. I hope to go to Brazil,” he expresses his aspirations for the upcoming tournament.
