In preparation for the 2014 World Cup, the Cameroon national football team, the Indomitable Lions, will have a significant partner: the German national team. The teams are set to play a friendly match on June 1, 2014, in Mönchengladbach. The announcement was made by the team’s press officer, Raphaël Nkoa, who cited information from the German media. The decision to arrange the friendly was a result of negotiations initiated by Cameroon’s national coach, Volker Finke, after the draw for the World Cup in Brazil.
The Indomitable Lions aim to have strong sparring partners to prepare for their matches in Pool A against Brazil, Mexico, and Croatia. Nkoa mentioned that there will be a special communication in the coming days regarding the final preparation program for the Indomitable Lions.
The upcoming match between Cameroon and Germany will not be the first encounter between the two teams. They previously faced each other twice, with Germany winning 2-0 on June 11, 2002, in Shizuoka, Japan, and 3-0 on November 17, 2003, in Leipzig, Germany.
