Henri Bedimo, the Cameroonian footballer and former champion of France with Montpellier in 2012, remains deeply connected to his roots. Despite his success, he cherishes his time at Lens (2010-2011). Reflecting on his stint, Bedimo expressed, “Lens is one of the clubs that left an impression on me. I departed, but it wasn’t necessarily my desire. Economic constraints forced the club to part ways with key players to balance the budget. Once there was an agreement with Montpellier, I gave my approval because Montpellier was a club on the rise, nurturing quality young talents. It’s just disheartening that Lens was experiencing a downturn. It’s the only downside of my time there.”
He emphasized Lens’ significance in French football, with its passionate audience, rich history, and the return of legendary president Gervais Martel to the scene. Bedimo doesn’t rule out a return to Lens, saying, “Lens is part of the elite of French football with its audience, its environment, its history and its legendary president Gervais Martel who is back in business. A return? Why not, and the president knows it well. It would be very good for French football to see Lens in Ligue 1 again. When we ask any player in France, or even in Europe, because Lens is quite well known, if he receives an offer, he will study it,” as shared during a conversation on the L’Equipe website and reported by Sangetor. Bedimo currently plays as the left-back for Lyon.
