The National Arbitration Directorate, under the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, has released a detailed analysis on its YouTube channel, asserting the accuracy of the referee’s decisions during the match.
The Directorate highlighted the validity of the decision to disallow the first goal scored by Maghreb Athletic Tetouan, emphasizing the complexity of the situation that warranted the use of Virtual Offside technology combined with body positioning analysis.
It underscored the importance of scrutinizing the position of all overlapping players, employing various lines and comparing them to the goal line.
Regarding the incident leading to the expulsion of a Maghreb Athletic Tetouan player in the dying minutes of the match, the Directorate clarified that the red card was issued for a second caution after the player physically confronted the referee during protests, stressing that Video Assistant Referee (VAR) intervention is only applicable in cases of direct red card offenses.
The match between Raja Casablanca and Maghreb Athletic Tetouan, held at the Saniat Rmel Stadium last Saturday, witnessed vehement protests from the home team following the disallowed goal and the subsequent expulsion of Ayoub El Moudene in the closing stages of the encounter.
