France is set to participate in the upcoming World Cup hosted in Brazil from June 12 to July 13, 2014. The national team, known as the Blues, will be placed in a group alongside Honduras, Ecuador, and Switzerland, as per the draw conducted on December 6th.
Eric Abidal, who has become a significant figure for the French selection following a challenging period at Barcelona, expressed his desire to be part of Didier Deschamps’ squad for the World Cup. Speaking at a press conference, the Monegasque defender stated, “The World Cup is a goal, I have never hidden it. This is what I fought for.” Abidal acknowledged that securing a spot in the World Cup squad would require delivering strong performances at the club level. He emphasized that the final decision rests with the coach, Didier Deschamps, who will ultimately determine the composition of the group for the tournament.
