The European Commission announced on Wednesday that French public aid for the construction and renovation of stadiums for the Euro 2016 football tournament has been deemed compliant with European Union rules. The approval covers public aid totaling 1.05 billion euros, allocated to projects in nine stadiums: four newly constructed (Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, and Nice) and five renovated (Parc des Princes in Paris, Saint-Etienne, Marseille, Toulouse, and Lens).
