Togolese player Floyd Ayité and Congolese player Oniangué scored goals for Reims, but it wasn’t enough to secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the French League. Despite a quick two-goal lead in the second half, with goals from Bafetimbi Gomis and Alexandre Lacazette, Reims couldn’t maintain their advantage. Oniangué managed to reduce the score in the 65th minute, reigniting hope for the visitors. However, Yoann Gourcuff’s superb goal in the 82nd minute dashed their chances. Although Ayité converted a penalty in the 87th minute, it was not sufficient to prevent Reims from being eliminated from the competition.
